Tehran, Iran: Three Indian Men Missing in Iran After Alleged Kidnapping, Families Seek Help from Embassy
Three Indian men from Punjab have gone missing in Iran under mysterious and distressing circumstances. The families of the missing individuals are in a state of panic and have reached out to the Indian Embassy in Tehran for help tracing their loved ones.
Who Are the Missing?
The missing persons have been identified as:
- Hushanpreet Singh from Sangrur
- Jaspal Singh from Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar
- Amritpal Singh from Hoshiarpur
According to their families, the three had left for Iran on May 1 with the assistance of an agent from Hoshiarpur, who had allegedly promised to help them reach Australia via the Dubai-Iran route.
What Happened in Iran:
Upon arrival in Iran, the trio was allegedly kidnapped by unknown assailants, who tied them up and sent photographs to their families. The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of ₹1 crore for their release. The last known contact with the victims was on May 11, and there has been no communication since.
The family members immediately contacted the Indian Embassy in Tehran, which in turn notified the Iranian authorities. Although the embassy has been sharing periodic updates, the families remain anxious, as there is still no concrete information on their whereabouts.
The Role of the Agent
The families allege that a travel agent from Hoshiarpur facilitated their journey with false promises. The agent, who is now untraceable, had assured them that proper accommodation would be arranged in Iran. After the kidnapping, the families believe the agent may have knowledge of the kidnappers, as he was also contacted by them and reportedly received the ransom threat directly.
What’s Next:
Iranian authorities, with support from the Indian Embassy, are currently investigating the case and working to locate the missing Indians. Meanwhile, the families are appealing for swift action and urging anyone with information about the agent or the captors to come forward.
