Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Monday after violent anti-corruption protests left at least 19 people dead, officials confirmed.
The unrest, led mostly by youth, erupted over corruption, unemployment, and a controversial social media ban.
Despite lifting the ban and calling for talks, protests intensified, with clashes in Kathmandu and Sunsari killing 19 and injuring hundreds, including police.
Amnesty International accused security forces of using live ammunition, while the UN demanded a probe.
Analysts say the movement reflects growing generational anger in a country where nearly half the population is under 40.
Oli’s exit has triggered political uncertainty as parties scramble to form a new government.
