Donald Trump has proposed cutting $3 billion in federal grants to Harvard University, criticizing the institution for rising antisemitism and a lack of practical education. He suggested redirecting the funds to U.S. trade schools.

Trump also accused Harvard of withholding its foreign student list, implying the school may be protecting “radicalized” individuals. The Department of Homeland Security echoed concerns, citing campus safety issues and alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Harvard filed a lawsuit in response, arguing the move violates the First Amendment and impacts over 7,000 international students. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the sanctions while legal proceedings continue.
