Washington, USA: US President Donald Trump has appointed Kush Desai, an Indian-American former journalist, as his new Deputy Press Secretary, according to an announcement from the White House.
Desai, who previously held roles as Deputy Communications Director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and Communications Director for the Republican Party of Iowa, has a significant background in political communications. He also served as the Deputy Battleground States and Pennsylvania Communications Director at the Republican National Committee, where he was instrumental in shaping the messaging and strategy in critical battleground states, especially Pennsylvania.
Trump triumphed in all seven of the key battleground states in the last election.
The White House confirmed his appointment on Friday, stating that Desai will report to Deputy White House Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary, Taylor Budowich, who oversees the Office of Communications.
Previously, Trump had announced the appointments of Steven Cheung as White House Communications Director and Karoline Leavitt as Press Secretary.
