Heavy Rains In America

Incessant heavy rains have submerged many counties in Iowa over the past week, prompting officials to relocate residents to safer areas. Efforts to rescue those trapped by floodwaters are underway, with helicopters on standby to assist where boats cannot reach.

The situation in Rock Valley, home to about 4,200 people, is particularly dire as the Rock River overflows. Authorities have sounded sirens to alert residents and issued warnings due to the rising floodwaters. Drinking water has become scarce as a result of the flooding.

An emergency has been declared in 21 counties, with Sioux County entirely submerged. Streets are impassable, and only rooftops are visible. South Dakota has also declared an emergency, with warnings of potential heavy floods in the southeastern region on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, other parts of the U.S. are experiencing extreme heat. Temperatures have reached levels not seen since 1936. Washington, D.C. recorded 37.8 degrees Celsius, and cities like Richmond, Virginia, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Columbus, Ohio, and Detroit saw temperatures exceed 32 degrees, causing significant discomfort for residents.
