Indian Pharmacist Arrested in UK for Alleged Murder Plot Against Ex-Wifes Family

London, UK: Ajith Kumar Mupparapu, a 45-year-old Indian pharmacist based in the UK, has been arrested in Maidenhead, Berkshire, on January 17, for allegedly plotting to murder his ex-wife and her family in Hyderabad. The arrest was made under an extradition request from India. Mupparapu faces serious charges in India, including murder, attempted murder, and poisoning, with accusations dating back to 2023.

Court documents reveal that Mupparapu allegedly orchestrated several murder attempts against his estranged wife, Dr. Sirisha Muttavarapu, an oncologist, and her relatives between January and August 2023. These included poisoning with arsenic and administering succinylcholine injections. The charges involve the attempted murders of Sirisha's brother, his wife, and her father. He is also accused of causing the death of his former mother-in-law, Uma Maheshwari, who fell ill after consuming arsenic-laced spices in June 2023 and died in July.

Mupparapu, who was married to Sirisha in 2018, allegedly subjected her to physical and emotional abuse, leading to their divorce in 2022. He will appear in court again on February 21 after being denied bail.
