PM Modi Addresses East Asia Summit, Strengthens Indo-Pacific Ties

Vientiane, Laos: Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first leader to address the East Asia Summit after the host and incoming chair, emphasizing India's significant role in ASEAN. Recognized for participating in nine out of 19 East Asia Summits, Modi reinforced India’s commitment to ASEAN unity and centrality, particularly in its Indo-Pacific strategy. He highlighted the alignment between India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative and ASEAN's vision for a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific, vital for regional peace and progress.

During his visit to Laos, PM Modi participated in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit, marking a decade of India's Act East Policy. He was warmly welcomed in Vientiane with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and later interacted with the Indian diaspora. Modi also attended a performance of the Lao Ramayan, reflecting the deep cultural ties between India and Laos. His trip underscored the significance of India-ASEAN relations and provided opportunities to discuss regional challenges and cooperation, especially in the Indo-Pacific.
