Canada Emerges as Top Job Destination Amid Ongoing Diplomatic Tensions with India

According to a report by Jobseeker, Canada was the most sought-after destination for relocation among job seekers.

This preference was especially strong among individuals looking to move from India, alongside other countries like Germany, Japan, Mexico, Costa Rica, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Despite ongoing tensions between Canada and India, particularly following the killing of Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canada continued to be a popular choice for job seekers.

The country’s appeal remained high among those wanting to relocate from India, as well as from nations such as Germany, Japan, and Mexico.

Following Canada, Australia emerged as the second most preferred country for relocation, while Switzerland and the United States tied for third place.

Jobseeker's report was based on an analysis of global job-seeking trends conducted between September 19 and 25.

The report tracked search trends using the query "jobs in [country name]" across 30 countries, chosen for their strong job markets and high GDP, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The study found the following countries to be the top relocation destinations for work, based on job seekers' searches from the 30 countries analyzed, with the number indicating the frequency of searches:

  1. Canada (8)
  2. Australia (7)
  3. Switzerland (6)
  4. United States (6)
  5. Singapore (2)
  6. Denmark (2)
  7. Saudi Arabia (2)
  8. United Kingdom (2)
  9. Germany (1)
  10. Qatar (1)
  11. Spain (1)
  12. Japan (1)
  13. Netherlands (1)
  14. New Zealand (1)

Additionally, the report noted that most job seekers in Canada were looking for opportunities in the United States.

India-Canada Relations:

Relations between India and Canada have been tense since the Canadian government's allegations in September of last year regarding the possible involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India dismissed these accusations as baseless.

In response, India expelled six Canadian diplomats and recalled its high commissioner Sanjay Verma, along with other officials.

India has consistently maintained that the core issue between the two countries lies in Canada's failure to address the activities of pro-Khalistan groups operating freely on Canadian soil.
