Indian American Democrat Ajay Bhutoria Faces Sectarian Threats, Cites Trump Supporters

Ajay Bhutoria, an Indian American fundraiser aligned with the Democratic Party and Vice President Kamala Harris, recently revealed that he has been receiving threatening, sectarian messages from an unknown source urging him to leave the U.S. and "return to India."

Bhutoria, who holds the position of Deputy National Finance Chair for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and serves on the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, is dedicated to advocating for issues impacting Asian American communities and supporting legal immigrants.

One message claimed, "You say you're acting in America's best interest, but you're doing nothing for Americans and have no concern for this country. You are Indian and care only about Indians." Another message insulted him, calling him a "beggar in America," and suggested he should "seek status in India."

In response, Bhutoria made the messages public, attributing them to likely supporters of President-elect Donald Trump and highlighting the discrimination faced by immigrants. "These attacks reveal the racial prejudice that immigrant and minority communities frequently confront," he noted.

Bhutoria has consistently championed immigrant rights and inclusion, aiming to build unity among legal immigrants across the country. He emphasized that his experience underscores the ongoing need for conversations about race and the immigrant experience in the U.S.
