Toronto, Ontario, Canada: A 26-year-old Indian-origin woman, Navneet Kaur, was shot dead in what police have described as a targeted attack in Toronto, Canada. Authorities have arrested a suspect and launched a detailed homicide investigation into the incident.

According to Toronto Police, the shooting occurred at around 7:23 a.m. on Friday near the intersection of Humberwood Boulevard and Rexdale Boulevard. Preliminary findings indicate that Navneet Kaur was walking along the street when a man approached her and briefly spoke to her.

An eyewitness reported that the suspect greeted the victim before engaging in a short conversation. Moments later, without any visible altercation, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after receiving reports of the shooting and attempted to provide medical assistance. However, Navneet Kaur succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Toronto Police immediately launched a large-scale search operation involving drones and the K-9 unit. On Saturday, authorities arrested 37-year-old Saranjit Singh in Brampton. He has been charged with first-degree murder and breach of court orders.

Investigators said the motive behind the killing remains under investigation. The case has been assigned to the Toronto Police Homicide Unit, which has classified the incident as a targeted attack. Police also stated that no other suspects are believed to have been involved.
