Dhaka, Bangladesh: The Indian government has announced steps to bolster security at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and other diplomatic facilities across the country.
India has strongly condemned the intrusion at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, which took place during a protest rally on December 2.
The breach occurred when more than 50 demonstrators, protesting the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das and recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, reportedly entered the mission's premises.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed its regret over the incident, emphasizing that diplomatic and consular properties must never be subjected to such actions.
In its official statement, the MEA said, “The breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala earlier today is deeply regrettable."
It further stated, “Diplomatic and consular properties must not be targeted under any circumstances. The government is taking necessary steps to enhance security measures for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and its Deputy/Assistant High Commissions throughout India.”
