Is Justin Trudeau Using India to Divert Attention from Chinese Election Interference?

Foreign affairs expert Robinder Sachdev has claimed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is attempting to distract from allegations of Chinese interference in Canadian elections by targeting India. Sachdev described Trudeau's actions as a response to being labeled a "weak leader" amid ongoing controversies surrounding China's involvement in elections since 2019 and 2021. He compared the situation to the Watergate scandal, suggesting that Trudeau's focus on India is a strategic move to deflect attention from his leadership failures.

Trudeau's allegations against India, particularly regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, have further strained relations between the two countries. Meanwhile, Trudeau's Liberal Party faces challenges with declining approval ratings, especially after the New Democratic Party withdrew from its coalition government.

In a separate context, Sachdev commented on the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, calling it an important achievement but cautioned that eliminating one leader does not dismantle the movement. He emphasized the need for Israel to work towards restoring normalcy in Gaza following Sinwar's death, which the Israel Defense Forces confirmed occurred during a military operation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the war could end if Hamas laid down its arms and returned hostages.
