Approval of abortion bill in the French Parliament!

The Abortion Bill was approved in a joint session of the French Parliament. France became the first country in the world to enshrine abortion in its constitution.

French lawmakers have approved a bill to enshrine women's right to abortion in the constitution of France. Members of the joint session expressed their happiness with applause as the bill was passed with a majority vote. All those working for women's rights in the country praised the decision of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Article 34 of the French Constitution was amended to give legal form to this bill. Later it was introduced in both houses of the Parliament i.e. National Assembly and the Senate. This bill gives women the right to abortion. Opening the joint session, Lower House Speaker Yael Braun-Pivet said France was the first country to grant a woman the right to an abortion.

Before the approval of this bill, French Prime Minister Gabriel Atal said that women could now make their own decisions about abortion. On the other hand, the organizations and activists who oppose abortion have criticized the decision of the Parliament on the approval of this bill. They accused President Macron of using the law for political gain.
