Arizona Wildfire Near Phoenix Prompts Evacuations

Over 200 firefighters are currently battling a wildfire northeast of Phoenix, threatening homes and leading to evacuations. The fire, covering nearly 6 square miles near the Boulder Heights subdivision, has not damaged any structures yet. Efforts to contain the blaze involve 275 personnel, air tankers, and helicopters amid high temperatures and expected wind gusts. The Red Cross has set up an evacuation centre in Scottsdale, with shelters for large animals established at various locations.

In central California, the Fresno June Lightning Complex poses a significant threat as rising temperatures and low humidity worsen conditions. The complex consists of multiple fires covering nearly 17 square miles, with 42% containment and one structure destroyed. Evacuation orders remain in place. Meanwhile, in northern California, the Apache Fire in Butte County has destroyed 14 structures, is 95% contained, and covers one square mile.
