Bay Area Commissioner Celebrates Daughters Consecutive UC Berkeley Data Science Milestones

San Francisco Bay Area,  California, USA: Bay Area civic leader and Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Commission Commissioner Raghu Reddy and his wife, Padmaja, recently hosted a special celebration in Fremont after both of their daughters reached significant academic milestones at the University of California, Berkeley.

Their elder daughter, Nidhi Reddy, graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Data Science, while her younger sister, Nitya Reddy, earned admission to the university's highly competitive Data Science program, continuing the family's academic journey at one of the nation's leading public universities.

According to the family, both sisters secured places in UC Berkeley's selective Data Science program, reflecting years of dedication and academic excellence. Soon after completing her studies, Nidhi accepted a full-time engineering position with a global information technology company, marking the beginning of her professional career in the technology sector.

Inspired by her sister's success, Nitya gained admission to the same program during this year's intake, making the achievement particularly meaningful for the family. They described having two daughters pursue Data Science at UC Berkeley as a "rare, one-in-a-million achievement."

Raghu Reddy currently serves as a commissioner on Milpitas' Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Commission. The family noted that he has also contributed to local school board governance and served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations while actively participating in community leadership initiatives.

The celebration in Fremont was attended by family members, friends and several community leaders from across California, including mayors, district attorneys, commissioners, council members, organizational presidents and business executives.

The family said the dual milestones reflect the value they place on education and credited the sisters' hard work, determination and perseverance, along with the guidance and support of their parents, for their success.
