Shock for students going to Canada.. Trudeau government announcement of cutting student visas..

The government of Canada has given a shock to the students going to Canada for higher education. Canada's Justin Trudeau government has announced cuts to international student visas for the next two years and restrictions on visa issuance. Canadian Immigration Minister Mark Miller made the announcement at a press conference in Ottawa. Justin Trudeau's government imposes student visa cuts amid Canada's rapidly growing housing crisis.

Also, the number of new study visas to Canada this year has been reduced by 35 per cent. Certain provinces, such as Ontario, have imposed further cuts of up to 50 per cent. However, the minister said that in the coming weeks, open work permits will be available for spouses of students enrolled in professional programs like medicine and law as well as masters-doctoral programs. The announcement disappointed thousands of Indian students who dreamed of studying in Canada. Most of these students went from Punjab to Gujarat. At present, there are about three and a half lakh Indian students in Canada.
