IMPD Announces Guidelines for Fourth of July Fireworks in Indianapolis

As residents gear up for Fourth of July celebrations, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has released a set of guidelines to ensure a "safe and enjoyable" holiday for everyone.

In a social media announcement, IMPD stated that fireworks can be set off in Indianapolis from 9 a.m. to midnight on the Fourth of July. On all other days, the permissible time extends until 11 p.m.

For those looking for fireworks displays in central Indiana, here are some important rules to keep in mind:

- Fireworks must be set off by the property owner or someone who has received permission from the property owner to do so.

- Individuals must be 18 years or older to use fireworks unless accompanied by an adult.

- Using fireworks to damage property or injure someone is a criminal offence and may result in arrest.

Residents can enjoy the Fourth Fest fireworks show in downtown Indianapolis from home on July 4. FOX59 will broadcast the 20-minute display at around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday.
