Indian American lawmakers have expressed strong support for the agreement, brokered under President Joe Biden's administration, emphasizing its importance in reducing regional tensions and ensuring civilian safety.
Congressman Shri Thanedar, representing Michigan's 13th district, voiced his approval of the ceasefire in a statement. "I am heartened by President Biden's announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah," he remarked.
He added, "The ongoing conflict has deeply affected many in my district. This ceasefire brings hope for increased safety for Israeli and Lebanese civilians caught in the violence. I believe this agreement can pave the way for future peace initiatives in the Middle East. I commend President Biden, Secretary Blinken, and all who worked tirelessly to negotiate this agreement."
Representative Ami Bera of California's 6th district also applauded the ceasefire, highlighting its significance for civilian protection and regional peace. In a message posted on X, Bera stated, "I commend the Administration for its dedicated diplomatic efforts in securing this agreement. It allows Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return to their homes and represents a vital step toward reducing regional tensions."
Bera further urged continued efforts to address other conflicts, including the Gaza war, stressing the need for rebuilding Gaza and pursuing long-term peace solutions.
