Security Guard Fatally Shot in Mississippi Three Teenagers Arrested

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — In Mississippi, a security guard at a convenience store and gas station has been fatally shot, leading to charges against three teenagers.

A security guard stationed at a convenience store and gas station in Mississippi was shot and killed early Monday morning. Three teenagers have been charged in connection with the incident.

Roy Love, 60, was on duty at M&M Food Express in south Jackson, according to the city's police chief, Joseph Wade.

Around 1:30 a.m., Love approached three teenagers and asked them to leave the premises, Chief Wade reported.

"They subsequently attacked him, seized his weapon, and fired at him," Wade stated during a news conference.

The chief noted that video footage captured the fatal confrontation, showing that Love never drew his weapon. Following the shooting, two of the teenagers fled on foot while one escaped on a bicycle, Wade added.

Jackson Police Department officers apprehended two 17-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy within hours and charged them with capital murder, according to Wade.
