Trump Reflects on Surviving Assassination Attempt, Cites Gods Plan

USA, Washington: Former President Donald Trump shared on Sunday that a near-death experience has strengthened his belief in God. In an interview with Fox News host Mark Levin, Trump stated, "If you already had faith in God, this makes you believe even more.

When asked why he believes he survived an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally in July, Trump, a Republican presidential candidate, remarked, "I'd like to think that God wants me to help fix our country. Our country is so sick and broken, and maybe that's why; I’m not sure."

Following the shooting incident, Trump previously told reporters that he felt he “wasn’t supposed to be here” and that he “was supposed to be dead.” He added, “By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God that I’m still here,” as reported by The Guardian.

In the Sunday interview, Trump also reflected on expert analyses of the shooting.

“When you talk to experts, like my sons who are shooting experts, they said there was no way the gunman could have missed from that distance,” Trump explained. “I think he was hurried and rushed because people started noticing there was someone with a gun.”

Host Levin expressed astonishment that the shooter was on the roof, saying it drove him “crazy.”

Trump commended the Secret Service's quick action, stating, “Fortunately, he was taken down quickly. But if he hadn’t been, it could have been like the horrific Las Vegas attack, with a shooter in a building firing down into crowds.”

The former President also defended his actions following the 2020 presidential election, saying he had "every right" to challenge the results.

"It's so crazy that my poll numbers go up. Whoever heard of getting indicted for interfering with a presidential election where you have every right to do it?" Trump remarked. "You get indicted and your poll numbers go up."

On July 14, several shots were fired at a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, causing chaos as one bullet grazed Trump’s head. Wearing his iconic red "Make America Great Again" cap, Trump winced and grabbed his ear, which was bleeding along with his cheek. He was quickly escorted off the stage by US Secret Service agents.
