Trump Excludes Haley, But Indian American Vivek Ramaswamy Likely to Land Senior Role in New Administration

US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he will not invite Nikki Haley or Mike Pompeo to join his new administration, citing their past service but declining to offer them positions.

In contrast, Trump has praised Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, calling him "very smart" and suggesting he will take on a senior role in the upcoming administration. During a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump hinted at a significant position for Ramaswamy but did not disclose details.

Ramaswamy, who initially ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination before becoming a staunch supporter, is seen as a rising figure in the party. Trump recalled the challenge he faced competing against Ramaswamy in the primaries, noting his intelligence and rapid rise.

Speculation has also arisen about Ramaswamy possibly running for Ohio Governor in 2026, though Trump’s admiration for him remains evident.

Trump's exclusion of Haley follows her prior criticism of his campaign, despite their shared history during his presidency. Haley had distanced herself from Trump in the past, particularly after the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
