Driver in Fatal Crash Admits to Drinking 6 or 8 or 12 Beverages, Missouri Police Report

Following a tragic incident in St. Louis, Missouri, a driver involved in a fatal crash reportedly confessed to consuming between six and twelve alcoholic drinks before the accident. According to St. Louis County Police Department, the collision occurred on July 2, leading to the death of a passenger in the drivers vehicle. Police observed the driver, identified as 23-year-old Yastrenkis Agala, swerving between lanes in his Chevy Sonic just after midnight.

Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop, officers noted that Agala accelerated at a high speed and ran a red light. Subsequently, they ceased pursuit. However, moments later, the Sonic was discovered crashed into a curb, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire with Agala and two passengers still inside.

Emergency services extracted the front-seat passenger and a rear-seat passenger, who tragically succumbed to injuries at a local hospital. Police reported that Agala exhibited signs of intoxication, such as bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath. Additionally, officers found an open beer bottle near the vehicle.

Agala admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day, stating he had consumed "6 or 8 or 12, I dont know," according to police statements. He was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence resulting in death, as well as resisting arrest by attempting to evade law enforcement.
