US-Singapore Study to Shape ASEAN Regional Power Grid Framework

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong highlighted the progress of the joint Feasibility Study on Regional Energy Connectivity by the US and Singapore, which is aimed at developing a Southeast Asian regional power grid. Speaking at the ASEAN-US summit in Vientiane, Mr. Wong emphasized the importance of collaboration in creating a sustainable future through renewable energy infrastructure, supported by US investments and expertise.

The second phase of the study will concentrate on the legal, governance, and financial structures required to implement the ASEAN Power Grid. The first phase, completed in October, examined the renewable energy landscape, existing grid infrastructure, and regional interconnections across Southeast Asia. Mr. Wong acknowledged the US as a crucial partner in ASEAN's peace and prosperity, calling for stronger efforts to enhance this partnership.
