CBS Responds to Trumps Editing Accusations

CBS's newsmagazine 60 Minutes has addressed former President Donald Trump's accusations that the network manipulated its October 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. In a statement released on Sunday, CBS categorically denied Trump's claims, asserting, “That is false.” The network explained that an excerpt of the interview shared with Face the Nation utilized a longer section of Harris's answer, while the version aired on 60 Minutes was more concise to fit the segment's format.

CBS highlighted that Harris participated in the interview, contrasting it with Trump's decision to withdraw. The network reiterated its open invitation for Trump to discuss the issues facing the nation on their program.

In response to CBS’s statement, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt maintained criticism of 60 Minutes, arguing that the network admitted to altering the interview to portray Harris in a more favorable light. Earlier, Trump had called for CBS to “lose its license,” prompting a response from Jessica Rosenworcel, chair of the Federal Communications Commission, who condemned his remarks as threats to free speech.
