Indias First Defense Aircraft Plant Inaugurated by Spains Pedro Sanchez

Spain: On his inaugural visit to India, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurated India’s first private military aircraft manufacturing unit, the Tata Aircraft Complex. This facility will produce the Airbus C-295 transport military aircraft, a key initiative in enhancing India's defense and aerospace manufacturing capabilities.

The establishment of the plant reflects India’s ambition to strengthen local production in defense, with a $2.5 billion agreement signed in 2021 for 56 C-295 aircraft from Airbus. While 16 of these will be assembled in Spain, the remaining 40 will be manufactured in Vadodara, with the first "Made in India" C-295 set to roll out by 2026.

During the inauguration, Sanchez praised Modi's vision to transform India into an industrial hub and highlighted the partnership between Airbus and Tata as a catalyst for further European investment in India. Modi emphasized that this project would bolster India-Spain relations and support the "Make in India, Made for the World" initiative. With Spain being a significant foreign investor in India, the collaboration opens avenues for investment across various sectors, including construction, pharmacy, and energy.
