The event initially focused on Trump's criticisms of Black politicians and journalists, before shifting to a discussion on why Black voters should consider supporting him. Trump also noted that, based on prior statements, Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, should have been present at the event. However, reports indicate that while the NABJ made efforts to have Harris attend in person, they declined her offer to participate virtually.
