A key position for a woman of Indian origin in USAID!

Sonali Korde, an Indian American, was recently sworn in as the Assistant Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance. Previously, Sonali served as the Deputy Assistant to the Administrator and led the diplomatic efforts on behalf of the United States to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Korde previously served as the Director of Global Health and Development at the National Security Council. In this capacity, she supported the integration of the broader development, security, bilateral diplomacy, and cooperation goals of the US government's global health portfolio. Served as Senior Technical Advisor.

It is known that Veena Reddy of Indian origin was appointed as the director of the USAID mission. Thus, Veena Reddy created history as the first Indo-American director of this mission. Previously, Veena Reddy worked as the deputy mission director in Haiti. After the huge earthquake there, were reconstruction efforts, assistance to elections, and economic growth. , Veena oversaw the development of new strategies for food security and hurricane response.
