ICJ Calls for Settlement Evacuation Amid Ongoing Israeli Violence Doha, Qatar: International Court of Justice's Demand and Ongoing Violence
The International Court of Justice has issued a demand for the evacuation of all Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. This comes amid continued violence and unrest in the region.

As ceasefire talks for Gaza progress into their second day in Qatar, violence from Israeli settlers persists. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have deliberately ignited 273 fires across Palestinian lands, including agricultural fields and residential areas. Mouayad Shaban of the commission accused the Israeli military and settlers of using the ongoing conflict as a pretext for these acts of arson, which he describes as state-sponsored terrorism aimed at displacing Palestinians and destroying their property.

In a recent incident, over 100 Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian town of Jit in the West Bank, resulting in the death of one individual and significant property damage. Reports indicate that settlers were protected by Israeli forces, who prevented Palestinian emergency services from intervening.

The White House has condemned these violent settler actions, calling for an immediate halt to such attacks. The Palestinian resistance group Hamas also denounced the violence. Since the escalation of the Gaza conflict, Israeli military actions in the West Bank have resulted in at least 632 Palestinian deaths and nearly 5,400 injuries.
