Why Did Indian-Origin Developer Anita Verma-Lallian Buy Matthew Perrys LA Home, performs puja

Los Angeles,USA: Anita Verma-Lallian, a real estate developer and film producer, has posted images and videos of Matthew Perry’s former home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, which she purchased in October.

The house, once home to the beloved 'Friends' actor, who passed away in 2023, was acquired by Verma-Lallian, an Indian-origin woman, for $8.55 million.

"We're thrilled to announce we bought a house in Los Angeles earlier this month! Our agent presented us with an incredible 'off-market' property she was eager to show us. The moment I entered, I fell in love with its features, especially the Pacific Ocean view. We knew it was 'the one' and immediately put in an offer," Lallian shared on Instagram.

She held a traditional puja ceremony at the home, emphasizing that their decision was purely based on their admiration for the property, not its previous ownership.

"As a real estate developer, I believe every home has a unique history, whether known or unknown, and that it reflects the energy of its current owner. Being Hindu, it’s customary to conduct a blessing and prayer upon buying a new home. We were fortunate to have our Panditji travel from Arizona to perform the blessing. We chose to honor the positive aspects of the previous owner’s life, his immense talent, and the joy he brought to many. Our decision to buy the home was entirely based on our love for it, not its history," she added.

Lallian further described the home as “a piece of paradise filled with light and the perfect vacation spot for us.”

The 3,500-square-foot home, built in 1965 on a 0.4-acre lot, was initially purchased by Matthew Perry for $6 million in 2020, after which he conducted major renovations, according to 'The New York Times'.

Matthew Perry tragically passed away at age 54 in October 2023. The December 2023 autopsy report revealed that he died from "acute effects" of ketamine, combined with other factors that led to unconsciousness and drowning in his hot tub.
