California, USA: On November 23, 2024, about 150 American Hindus gathered outside Milpitas City Hall to hold a solidarity rally for Hindu communities in Canada and Bangladesh, condemning ongoing violence and human rights violations. The rally aimed to urge US leaders to hold the Canadian and Bangladeshi governments accountable for protecting their Hindu minorities.
Speakers highlighted recent incidents, including an attack at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Canada, by Khalistani supporters, during which worshippers, including women and children, were assaulted. Participants expressed concern over the rising threats to Hindus in both countries, with a call to action for local and international authorities to address these issues.
Dr. Japra of Americans for Hindus emphasized unity, stating, "We are one world, one family, one future," while condemning attacks by Khalistanis and Islamists. Pushpita Prasad from the Coalition of Hindus in North America (CoHNA) urged stronger action against Hinduphobia, citing attacks on temples in both Canada and California.
A Bangladeshi Hindu participant described the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, where temples are destroyed and Hindus face persecution under false blasphemy charges. The rally also spotlighted the lack of political support for these communities, with calls for U.S. leaders to take a stronger stance.
The rally was organized by several Bay Area Hindu groups, including the American Hindu Coalition and CoHNA.
