New York, USA: Five individuals, including two of Indian origin, have been charged in a violent armed robbery at a small business owner's home in Orange County, New York. The incident occurred in the presence of the victim’s young children.
The accused—Bhupinderjit Singh (26), Divya Kumari (26), Elijaih Roman (22), Corey Hall (45), and Erik Suarez (24)—face charges of robbery conspiracy and robbery, each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years. Additionally, four of the suspects face charges of brandishing firearms during a violent crime, which could lead to life imprisonment.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Edward Kim, the suspects restrained the victims and held them at gunpoint while ransacking the home for cash and valuables, including jewelry and $10,000 in cash. The robbery, which occurred around December 1, 2024, left the children traumatized as they witnessed their parents being zip-tied and threatened.
FBI Assistant Director James Dennehy condemned the invasion, highlighting its devastating impact on the family. Divya Kumari acted as a lookout while the others forced entry and terrorized the family. All five suspects were apprehended and appeared before a federal judge in White Plains, New York.
