Georgia, Atlanta:  December 20, 2024: Ekal Vidyalaya's fundraiser, Ekal Ke Rang Aapke Sang, held on December 7, 2024, at Global Mall, raised $64,000 to support 173 schools in rural India. The event featured music, dance, and cultural performances while securing essential sponsorships for Ekal's educational initiatives. Ekal Vidyalaya, India’s largest grassroots education movement, serves over 38,000 villages, educating more than a million children.

Dignitaries, including Consul General Ramesh Babu, State Senators Shawn Still and Carter Barret, and State Representative Matt Reeves, attended the event. Senator Still emphasized the importance of literacy and education in Georgia, drawing parallels with Ekal’s mission to uplift rural communities through education.

Shiv Aggarwal, President of the Atlanta Chapter, highlighted Ekal’s impact on education and village development, including efforts in digital literacy, women’s empowerment, and healthcare. The evening featured musical performances by Rekha Pallath and local singers, as well as vibrant dance acts from various academies.

The funds raised will support vital Ekal programs such as computer labs for interactive learning and vocational training for women. Event coordinator Neetu Singh Chauhan expressed appreciation for the community’s overwhelming support, which will help transform the lives of rural children.

Founded in the 1980s by Dr. Rakesh Popli and Rama Popli, Ekal Vidyalaya aims to connect urban donors with rural schools, making it one of the largest donation-based movements worldwide. Its mission continues to build self-reliant communities and break the cycle of poverty through education.
