External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized to CEOs and business leaders in Australia that Donald Trump’s election could have five significant impacts on business and diplomatic ties.

Jaishankar expressed that India views Trump’s potential return to the White House as an opportunity to strengthen the business aspect of the India-US relationship. 

During his four-day visit to Australia, Jaishankar met with CEOs and business leaders in Sydney, where he outlined five key impacts of Trump’s election on business and diplomatic relations.

He noted that the reordering of global supply chains, which had already begun, would likely accelerate. Although this shift may bring some disruptions, Jaishankar sees it as a chance for India, remarking, “This reordering of supply chains offers us an opportunity we previously missed in manufacturing.”

In his address, Jaishankar highlighted the natural synergy between India and Australia, which can boost mutual growth. Posting on X, he shared, “Started the day with CEOs and business leaders in Sydney, discussing India's transformations in digital, infrastructure, manufacturing, and skill development, and the natural complementarities between India and Australia to foster growth.”

He added that strong business and investment ties are crucial in driving the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Australia.

Additionally, Jaishankar met members of the Indian diaspora, MPs, and friends of India at New South Wales Parliament in Sydney, where he thanked the Indian community for actively contributing to the India-Australia partnership.

Jaishankar also engaged in a dialogue with foreign affairs and strategic experts at the Lowy Institute, an independent think tank in Sydney.
