Boston, USA: On December 12, the ISW Symphony Dhol Tasha Lezim team delivered a vibrant performance at the TD Garden before the Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons game, continuing their longstanding partnership with the Boston Celtics, which began in 2010.

The performance featured volunteers from the India Society of Worcester (ISW) playing traditional Indian folk instruments, including Dhol (Indian drums), Tasha (snare drums), and Zanj and Taal (cymbals), captivating the audience with the rich sounds of Indian culture.

This performance is part of ISW’s ongoing collaboration with the Celtics, which has included various cultural contributions over the years, such as singing the National Anthem and engaging with players. Ragini Seth, an ISW volunteer instrumental in establishing this partnership, reflected, “It all began with a group dancing to ‘Jai Ho’ on the parquet floor. Since then, ISW has introduced Indian culture to Celtics fans in many ways. Seeing the Dhol Tasha team perform this year continues that tradition.”

For Sarita Deshpande, chair of the ISW Symphony initiative, performing at such a prestigious venue was a moment of immense pride. "It was incredible to see our Indian cultural rhythms captivate thousands of spectators in such a renowned arena," she shared.

Aishwarya Mungarwadi, a new member of the Dhol team, expressed her thrill, stating, "I never imagined performing Dhol for the Celtics. As a new member, it was such a significant achievement. The atmosphere was electric, and I felt like I was on cloud nine after the performance."

Akshay Rajhans, a Dhol player, offered a poetic tribute to the event: “Let us applaud, this cultural blend, where dance and music, forever transcend. The ISW Symphony, a name we'll recall, for the vibrant performance, a sight for all.”

Rajesh Khare, an ISW volunteer and event organizer, described the experience: "It was an incredible feeling to showcase the tradition of Dhol Tasha Lezim to a wider audience. The energy in the arena was absolutely amazing."
