Heroes in Wilmington Save Children from Burning Car, Detail Brave Efforts

In Wilmington, Delaware, a harrowing incident unfolded when a mother and her two young children narrowly escaped a car fire at the intersection of A and South Walnut streets. The ordeal began as the mother was leaving a nearby gas station just after 7:30 p.m. Fortunately, a group of men from a local car wash business sprang into action upon seeing the car engulfed in flames. Despite the intense heat and smoke, they courageously rescued 8-month-old Aliyah Hawkins and 6-year-old Dante Hawkins from the burning vehicle. Their swift and selfless actions were crucial, as firefighters arrived shortly afterward to extinguish the flames, which were exacerbated by fireworks stored in the trunk.

Harlan Hawkins, deeply thankful for the heroic intervention, personally visited the car wash the following day to express his gratitude to the men who risked their lives to save his niece, 22-year-old Lariyah Aunyea Hawkins, and her children. Despite suffering from second and third-degree burns, the family remains hopeful for their full recovery, reflecting on the bravery and quick thinking of the bystanders who intervened in their time of dire need.
