H1B-Visa: The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it has received a sufficient number of petitions for H-1B visas for the fiscal year 2025.
The much-anticipated update on H-1B visas for Indian professionals is here. The USCIS has confirmed reaching its limit for petitions filed for FY 2025. Applicants who were not selected in the lottery will be notified online in the coming days. Their application status will also be updated on the USCIS online portal.
The deadline for filing H-1B visa applications was June 30, 2024. However, since this date fell on a Sunday, the USCIS treated applications submitted on July 1 as within the deadline. Petitions that fall outside the annual visa cap, such as those for existing H-1B visa holders seeking amendments due to employment changes, will still be accepted and processed.
H-1B visas are sponsored by U.S. employers aiming to hire skilled professionals from abroad. Annually, 85,000 H-1B visas are issued, including 65,000 under the regular cap and an additional 20,000 reserved for individuals with advanced degrees from U.S. institutions. Despite this allocation, data reveals that leading companies like Google, Infosys, Amazon, and IBM have reduced their demand for these visas in recent years.
