2025 Diplomatic Calendar: PM Modis China Visit, Trump in India, Key Summits Ahead

China, Beijing: India’s diplomatic calendar for 2025 will begin with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam's visit in mid-January. Key engagements will include External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to the US to meet both the outgoing Biden administration and the incoming Trump team, focusing on high-level talks and preparations for President Trump’s visit ahead of the 2025 Quad Summit.

Prime Minister Modi is also expected to visit the US for meetings with the new President, and India will host its annual summit with Russia, possibly with President Vladimir Putin attending. India will participate in major multilateral summits, including the BRICS summit in Brazil (July) and the SCO summit in China (August-September), with high-profile bilateral talks expected between Modi and Russian and Chinese leaders.

Additionally, India will host the European Union summit in New Delhi, and several foreign leaders, including Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto (Republic Day 2025) and Chilean President Gabriel Boric, will visit. Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to visit France and Japan for their respective annual summits in February. Further key international events include the G20 summit in South Africa and the ASEAN summit in Malaysia later in the year.
