Agra Gym Trainer Poses as RAW Agent, Sexually Assaults Canadian Woman: Police Investigation Underway

Canada, Ottawa: In a disturbing incident in Agra, a gym trainer allegedly impersonated a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent to sexually exploit a Canadian woman of Indian descent. The Agra Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused, Sahil Sharma, and his accomplice, accusing them of rape and criminal intimidation, according to reports.

The police confirmed that an FIR had been lodged following a complaint from the victim, with the NRI woman being brought before a magistrate to give her statement. Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects, who remain on the run. The police cited various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to rape, criminal intimidation, assault, and the misuse of technology to intimidate the victim.

Details of the Incident: Sahil Sharma reportedly befriended the woman on Tinder, a popular social media platform, and arranged to meet her at a hotel in Agra in March 2024. During their meeting, Sharma is accused of spiking her drink with intoxicants, rendering her unconscious, and sexually assaulting her. Upon regaining consciousness, the woman was allegedly told by Sharma that he was a RAW agent and was threatened with harm. He also discussed the possibility of marriage.

After returning to Canada, the victim claimed that Sharma continued to contact her, repeatedly asserting his connection to RAW. In August, he invited her to India under the pretext of introducing her to his mother. Upon her arrival, the woman accused Sharma of sexually assaulting her multiple times in both Agra and Delhi. She also alleged that Sharma introduced her to his friend, Arif Ali, who allegedly assaulted her in a hotel bathroom.

Threats and Blackmail: The victim later discovered she was pregnant and tried to reach out to Sharma, but he allegedly threatened her, warning that he would publish her private photos online. The woman also claimed that Sharma pressured her to delete WhatsApp messages and call logs to conceal his identity. Furthermore, she accused Arif of blackmailing her with explicit photos that he had supposedly obtained from Sharma.

The case remains under investigation as the authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
