Four Baton Rouge Police Department officers faced indictment on Tuesday, accused of covering up an incident involving the abuse of a suspect in September 2020. According to reports from The Advocate, Douglas Chutz Jr., Todd Thomas, Troy Lawrence Sr., and Martell Jackson were indicted by a grand jury on charges ranging from obstruction of justice to malfeasance in office.

The incident reportedly occurred during the arrest of rap artist NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden. Police allegedly used a stun gun on a suspect during a strip search, capturing the event on body cameras that were later concealed. Despite this, officers are accused of falsifying reports claiming the cameras were lost.

District Attorney Hillar Moore highlighted that the charges against the officers are centred on efforts to hide crucial evidence. Requests for comments from Moore, the Baton Rouge Police Department, and Gaulden's representatives remain unanswered.

NBA YoungBoy has faced multiple legal issues, including recent arrests related to weapons charges and a complex prescription fraud case involving numerous felony and misdemeanour charges.

The development of additional charges against Gaulden in Weber County underscores the ongoing legal challenges he faces.
