Teenagers Body Recovered from South Carolina Lake Following Suspected Drowning, Coroner Confirms

A tragic incident unfolded in South Carolina on Sunday as Ludvin Hernandez, an 18-year-old resident of Greenwood, lost his life in Lake Greenwood due to a suspected drowning, reported the Greenwood County Coroner's Office. Despite the lake spanning across Laurens, Newberry, and Greenwood counties, the incident occurred specifically in Greenwood County.

Reports indicate that Hernandez was swimming in the lake when he submerged and failed to resurface. His family promptly alerted emergency services after being unable to locate him, leading to the recovery of his body around 6:30 p.m., as confirmed by the coroner's office. No other injuries were reported.

While the cause and manner of Hernandez's death have yet to be officially determined, both the coroner's office and the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. Details regarding the distance between Hernandez's last known location and where his body was found remain undisclosed, as do specifics regarding the lake's water depth. Lake Greenwood, a man-made reservoir sprawling over 11,400 acres with 212 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of approximately 69 feet, is managed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
