A tragic incident at a Walmart store in Halifax, Canada, has led to its closure as authorities investigate the death of a 19-year-old Sikh woman, an employee of the bakery department. Her body was found inside a walk-in oven on Saturday night. The Halifax Regional Police (HRP) received a call about the sudden death around 9:30 PM, and the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was recognized by the Maritime Sikh Society as a member of their community. Anmolpreet Singh from the society expressed deep sorrow over the loss, noting that she had emigrated to Canada from India in search of a better future.

The investigation is complex, according to HRP Constable Martin Cromwell, who emphasized the need for patience from the public and urged them to avoid spreading speculative information on social media. The police are collaborating with various agencies to uncover the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. A stop-work order has been issued for the bakery section of the store, with one piece of equipment also being affected. The cause and manner of death are yet to be determined, as the Nova Scotia medical examiner conducts further investigations.

Walmart Canada expressed its heartbreak over the incident and extended condolences to the woman's family. The store has remained closed since Saturday night as the investigation continues.
