The U.S. Embassy has urgently granted a visa to the parents of Indian student Nilam Shinde, who is battling for her life in America. With this approval, Nilam Shinde's parents will now travel to the U.S. Nilam Shinde (35) has been studying in the U.S. for the past four years. However, on February 14, the car she was traveling in met with an accident. Since then, she has been in the ICU and is now in a coma. Nilam is from Satara district in Maharashtra. Her parents had applied for a visa to visit her, but it was initially denied. Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule intervened and urged the central government to grant them an emergency visa through a request on X (formerly Twitter).
Meanwhile, the driver responsible for the accident fled the scene immediately. However, the police have now taken the accused into custody. Nilam’s father, Tanaji Shinde, stated that the accident occurred on February 16 and that they had been trying to obtain a visa since then. He expressed disappointment that they had not received the visa until now.
Responding to the issue, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule sought the help of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to expedite the visa approval. She urged the central government to resolve the matter quickly and assured the family of full support. Reports indicate that Nilam suffered multiple fractures in her arms and legs due to the accident. Additionally, she sustained head injuries, which led to her coma. Nilam had been in the U.S. for the past four years and was set to complete her studies this year before the tragic accident occurred.
