23 Killed In Myanmar Airstrike On Buddhist Monastery

At least 23 civilians, including four children, were killed and around 30 injured, 10 critically, when a Myanmar military airstrike struck a Buddhist monastery in Lin Ta Lu village, Sagaing Region.

The attack occurred at 1 am, as over 150 people sheltered there from ongoing military operations.

Independent reports suggest the death toll may be higher. The military has not issued a statement.

The strike is part of intensified offensives in Sagaing, a resistance stronghold, as the junta pushes to regain control ahead of planned elections.

Since the 2021 coup that ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s elected government, Sagaing has seen some of the fiercest resistance and crackdowns in the country.
