India has aligned with BRICS in condemning the military strikes on Iran that began on June 13, denouncing them as breaches of international law and the UN Charter. The BRICS group called for immediate de-escalation, safeguarding of civilian lives, and a return to diplomatic engagement.

PM Modi will attend the BRICS summit in Rio on July 5–6, as Iran thanks India for its solidarity during the recent conflict. Earlier, India distanced itself from a similar SCO statement, emphasizing its independent stance and the need for diplomacy.
