Canada will revamp its Express Entry system in 2026, adding three new categories:
- Leadership – Senior managers driving growth and innovation.
- Research & Innovation – Scientists and researchers advancing Canada’s innovation agenda.
- National Security & Defence – Skilled military personnel from allied countries.
Opportunities for Indians:
- IT, finance, engineering, and leadership professionals may qualify under Leadership.
- STEM researchers may enter via Research & Innovation.
- Defence experts could be eligible under National Security & Defence.
Students: PGWP eligibility may change, especially for those in leadership, research, or defence fields.
IRCC will continue focusing on Francophone immigration outside Quebec and priority sectors like healthcare, STEM, education, and agriculture.
