Ottawa: The Canadian Parliament building suddenly went into lockdown on Saturday. Police stated that the reason was a man entering the building without authorization and staying there overnight. The incident took place in the East Block of Parliament Hill. He was taken into custody on Sunday morning, bringing relief to everyone. It is still unclear whether the intruder had any weapons.
As soon as authorities received information about an unknown person in the East Block, the area was evacuated immediately. Police confirmed that no one was injured. They also clarified that the intruder did not attack anyone.
Investigations are ongoing to find out who the person is, how he entered, what his intentions were, and whether anyone was supporting him. It is worth noting that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had dissolved Parliament on March 23. General elections are scheduled to be held in the next six months.
