Europe is facing continuous floods, droughts, and heatwaves. Scientists warn that the continent, already struggling with numerous issues, is heading towards a future where it will transition from a frying pan to the fire. This is mainly due to the effects of climate change. As a result, Europe has become the fastest-warming continent in the world. Moreover, 30% of the continent’s river network has been severely damaged by floods.
The weather in Europe has become so unstable that no one can predict how it will change. As a result, scientists are warning that Europe faces various natural disasters in the near future. “To avoid these disasters, all European countries must unite immediately. Comprehensive environmental protection policies must be developed and implemented without delay. Otherwise, a major crisis is inevitable,” they stressed.
Europe is constantly experiencing disasters. In several countries, sudden floods, unrelenting heatwaves, and wildfires have become routine over the past years. Last year, many countries in Europe were severely affected by floods. Western Europe, in particular, saw floods on an unprecedented scale, the worst in decades. Southern Europe experienced record-breaking heatwaves for 13 consecutive days. Glaciers in Scandinavia have been rapidly melting for years.
