Toronto: Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami celebrations were held grandly in Toronto, Canada. Organized by the Telangana Canada Association (TCA), the festivities in Greater Toronto drew a large number of Telangana residents. On Ugadi, priest Narasimhacharyulu performed the traditional Panchanga Shravanam, while on Sri Rama Navami, Srikanth Kasarla led the Sita-Rama Kalyana Utsavam. The event was successfully conducted by the TCA Executive Committee with the support of the Board of Trustees and founding members.
On this occasion, TCA President Srinivas Mannem said that such events help preserve and pass on Telangana festivals and traditions to future generations. Many elders and children took part in cultural programs and showcased their talents. A total of 135 artists presented 23 unique performances, entertaining the audience for four hours. For the first time ever, spelling challenge competitions were held for children under 13, with “Best Brains” head Ramesh serving as judge. The kids responded enthusiastically, and prizes were awarded to all the winners.
Anchoring for the event was done by Sriranjani Kanduri and Varuni Gujjula with the help of cultural secretary Sphoorthi Koppu. Alongside the cultural programs, TCA also supported local businesses by setting up a variety of stalls. A special Ugadi meal, including Ugadi Pachadi and sweets, was served to all guests, and festive food like vada pappu and panakam was offered during the Sita-Rama Kalyanam. The event was successfully managed by the TCA board members and cultural secretary. Several key members of the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, and Founding Committee actively participated in the celebrations.
