Nuuk: Greenland citizens have strongly opposed U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of taking over Greenland. People across the country, along with both ruling and opposition leaders, have united against Trump’s statements.
On Saturday, hundreds of protestors held placards and flags in front of the U.S. diplomatic office in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital. Outgoing Prime Minister Mute B. Egede led the protest rally, while newly elected Democratic Party leader Jens Frederik Nielsen also participated. Protesters carried messages like "We Are Not for Sale" and "Make America Go Away." Similar protests erupted in other cities across Greenland.Earlier on Friday, Greenland’s Parliament strongly condemned Trump’s remarks. In response, five political parties issued a joint statement opposing any such intentions from the U.S.
