Indian Migrants Face Challenges as U.S. Tightens Donkey Route Crackdown

Washington: Illegal migrants from India using the Donkey Route to enter the U.S. are facing unprecedented challenges. The primary reason for this is Donald Trump's strong stance on reducing the number of undocumented immigrants in America. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the number of arrested illegal Indian migrants was 5,600 in December last year. This number dropped to 3,132 in January and further declined to 1,628 in February this year.

Since Trump assumed office on January 20, his strict policies against illegal immigration have made smugglers hesitant to transport migrants through the Donkey Route. As a result, many illegal immigrants already residing in the U.S., along with their children, are afraid to step outside their homes.Recently, several illegal migrants were deported to India on military planes while being shackled, causing widespread fear among the undocumented community. A senior official stated that deportation measures for illegal migrants in the U.S. are likely to increase in the future.
